Hope

As we enter the season of Advent, we're invited to journey back to Bethlehem and rediscover the profound hope that changed everything. Isaiah 9:6 offers us a glimpse into the anticipation that the Jewish people felt for centuries—waiting for a Messiah who would deliver them from oppression, suffering, and pain. Through Babylonian exile, Assyrian captivity, and Roman occupation, they clung to prophetic promises of a coming King. But when the Messiah finally arrived, He didn't come as the military conqueror they expected. Instead, He came as a baby in a manger, embodying titles that speak to our deepest needs: Wonderful Counselor who guides us with divine wisdom, Mighty God who displays strength and sovereignty, Everlasting Father who loves us with unending care, and Prince of Peace who reconciles us to God. This Advent season reminds us that our hope isn't found in perfect gifts or holiday bonuses, but in the One who carries our burdens on His shoulders. As we light the candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, we're reminded that something has happened, something is happening, and something better is still to come. The best is yet to come when we light our Christ candle—whether at His return or when He calls us home.
