Love

At the heart of this Advent reflection lies a profound truth that transforms how we understand Christmas: love moved first. Drawing from the most quoted verse in Scripture, John 3:16, alongside 1 John 4:10, we're reminded that God's love wasn't a response to our goodness—it was the initiating force behind the greatest gift ever given. This message challenges us to examine how we receive gifts, both physical and spiritual. Do we respond with childlike excitement and gratitude, or have we become complacent about the magnitude of salvation? The cosmic love of God the Father motivated Him to bridge a gap we could never cross on our own, sending His Son as an atoning sacrifice. This Advent season invites us to rediscover that initial joy of receiving Christ, to celebrate properly like the heavenly host did at His birth, and to recognize that this good news is for all people—the faithful and unfaithful, the worthy and unworthy, the strong and the weak. When we truly grasp that we've received the greatest gift in existence, our natural response should be overwhelming joy and an irresistible desire to share that gift with others, because as Jesus Himself said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.
