Striving for Holiness

This powerful message challenges us to examine who we're truly imitating in our daily lives. Drawing from 1 Peter 1:14-19, we're reminded that Scripture doesn't just suggest holiness—it demands it. The call is clear: as obedient children, we must not conform to our former ways of ignorance, but instead pursue holiness in all our behavior because God Himself is holy. What makes this message particularly convicting is the reality check it provides about the modern church. Studies reveal that Christians often show little difference from non-believers in areas like divorce rates and charitable giving. This should alarm us. We've watered down what it means to live a Christian life, emphasizing grace while forgetting the call to die to ourselves and pick up our cross. True repentance involves three essential elements: conviction (knowing we've done wrong), contrition (genuine sorrow for sinning against God), and change (actually transforming our behavior). Without all three, we're not truly repenting—we're just exploiting God's grace. The world is watching us as ambassadors for Christ, and our integrity can be the difference between someone accepting or rejecting Him. We were redeemed not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. Doesn't that deserve a life fully surrendered to Him?
