Friend or Follower
Are we fans or followers of Jesus? This powerful message challenges us to examine the depth of our commitment to Christ. Drawing from Luke 14:25-33, we're confronted with Jesus' seemingly harsh words about 'hating' family and carrying our own cross. But these words aren't about literal hatred; they're about prioritizing our relationship with God above all else. The message beautifully explains the concept of 'agape' love - a sacrificial, all-in love that Jesus has for us and calls us to have for Him. We're asked to consider: Are we building our faith on a solid foundation? Are we truly counting the cost of discipleship? This isn't about mere religious observance, but about a transformative relationship that should impact every aspect of our lives. The parallel drawn between religious 'fans' and sports fans is particularly striking, reminding us that enthusiasm alone isn't enough. We're called to move beyond being admirers to becoming true followers, allowing Jesus to move from our heads to our hearts.
